Job Description

Planned maintenance, breakdowns and shutdowns: steady artisan work at the coal mine engineering workshop near Upington. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a coal mine engineering workshop on the Upington side of Northern Cape.

What your day looks like

Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers

Must-haves

Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
