Instrumentation Mechanician (Processing Plant)

When production stops, the artisans get it going again. The gold mine shaft complex near Kimberley needs you on that team. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

The site is in Kimberley; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
• Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
• Order spares and track them through the engineering store
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
• Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles

• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)

• Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
• Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress

• Housing support in the mining town
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay

• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
• Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
