Job Description

If your welds pass X-ray, this stainless steel equipment manufacturer in Tzaneen wants you. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

The site is in Tzaneen; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What your day looks like

  • Sign off your weld map and traceability sheets for each spool
  • Roll and form plate for tanks, chutes and hoppers
  • TIG weld stainless steel tanks and fittings with proper back-purging
  • Fit up beams, columns and bracing with the correct gaps and alignment
  • Grind and repair welds flagged by the QC inspector
  • Prepare joints for radiographic and dye penetrant testing
  • Keep a hot work permit open and a fire watch in place during shutdowns

Must-haves

  • Valid welder coding to ISO 9606-1 or ASME IX in the processes the job needs
  • You can read fabrication and isometric drawings without help
  • Steady hands and good eyesight, with or without glasses
  • Medical fitness certificate for industrial sites, or willing to get one
  • Boilermaker or welder trade test certificate, or current SAIW welder qualification
  • At least 2 years of production or site welding after qualifying

Helpful, not essential

  • Duplex or chrome-moly welding experience
  • Rigging or crane signalling certificate

What you get

  • Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home
  • Coding renewals paid by the employer
  • Accommodation and meals paid on out-of-town shutdowns

How to apply

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Tzaneen really suit you before you apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: trade test certificate or SAIW qualification, photos of recent work, if you have them plus current welder coding certificates (check the dates).
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 6 working days, usually by phone.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Tzaneen.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Before you hit apply

  • Expired codings are the number one reason welders are turned away at the gate. Check dates before you apply.
  • If you have worked shutdowns, name the type of plant, like refinery or sugar mill. It proves you know the site rules.
