Job Description

Guests at this busy mall coffee shop in Vanderbijlpark come back for the people, and you'll be one of the reasons. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a busy mall coffee shop on the Vanderbijlpark side of Gauteng.

What you'll actually do

Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.

What you need

Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
Quick with basic maths and card machines
At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts

Helpful, not essential

A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint
A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
