Bricklayer (Face Brick & Plaster Brick)

The shopping centre extension in Bellville needs skilled hands and helpers who know the basics of the building trade. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a shopping centre extension on the Bellville side of Western Cape. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Wear your hard hat, boots and harness wherever the foreman says
• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb
• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs

• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Punctual every morning, even in winter

• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter
• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering

• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest

• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
