Plasterer (Internal and External Walls)

You'll build it with your hands: walls, floors, roofs and finishes on the residential renovation company in Cape Town CBD. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a residential renovation company in Cape Town CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clean your tools and sweep your work area before knocking off
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule
• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings

• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible

• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter
• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering
• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade

• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest
• Transport from a pick-up point to site
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
