Bricklayer (Face Brick & Plaster Brick)

Good, straight work gets noticed on this residential renovation company in Centurion, and so does turning up every day. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is in Centurion (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
• Plaster walls and float them to a smooth, even finish

• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible

• Experience on NHBRC-registered housing projects
• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering

• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one

• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
