Bricklayer (Face Brick & Plaster Brick)

You'll build it with your hands: walls, floors, roofs and finishes on the shopping centre extension in Middelburg (MP). You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The site is in Middelburg (MP); early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb
• Carry bricks and materials to the workface and keep the scaffold clear
• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings

• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test

• Experience on NHBRC-registered housing projects
• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade
• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter

• Transport from a pick-up point to site
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time

• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
