Job Description

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a townhouse construction site in Durban Central can keep building. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a townhouse construction site on the Durban Central side of KwaZulu-Natal. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

The work, day to day

Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
Clear rubble and load it into skips

Must-haves

Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
Prepared to travel between sites in the area
Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE

Helpful, not essential

Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
Previous site work you can show with a reference
Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)

What you get
