Job Description

Hard outdoor work on a low-cost housing development in Kariega, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a low-cost housing development on the Kariega side of Eastern Cape. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

The work, day to day

Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes

You'll need

Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
Willing to start early, often at 06:30
Prepared to travel between sites in the area
Grade 8 or higher
You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE

Helpful, not essential

Previous site work you can show with a reference
Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database
A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
