Building Maintenance Handyman (Residential Estate) – Immediate Start

Every day is different here: small repairs, painting and planned maintenance at the retirement village in Bethlehem. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a retirement village in Bethlehem. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Work through the maintenance log each morning and prioritise urgent requests
• Check fire extinguishers, emergency lights and escape routes on a monthly checklist
• Lay and repair floor tiles and re-grout wet areas
• Service pool pumps, gate motors and garage door openers
• Patch, sand and paint walls, doors and ceilings between tenants

• Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
• Your own tools are a plus, but safe tool handling is a must
• Honest and trusted to work inside occupied units
• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
• Available for the occasional weekend emergency
• At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references

• Experience with a work order system on a phone app
• Basic first aid certificate

• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
• Uniform and safety boots supplied
• On-site accommodation at some estates

• Do not claim electrical work you are not licensed to sign off. Say "basic electrical, no DB work" instead.
