Building Maintenance Handyman (Residential Estate)

The retirement village in Gqeberha needs a reliable all-rounder to keep the buildings safe and looking good. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Gqeberha-based, with most of your time spent at a retirement village.

• Service pool pumps, gate motors and garage door openers
• Work through the maintenance log each morning and prioritise urgent requests
• Lay and repair floor tiles and re-grout wet areas
• Patch, sand and paint walls, doors and ceilings between tenants
• Replace tap washers, cisterns, shower heads and toilet seats
• Change globes, fluorescent tubes and plug covers (no DB work)

• Honest and trusted to work inside occupied units
• Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
• At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references
• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
• Basic painting, tiling, plumbing and carpentry skills

• Experience with a work order system on a phone app
• Basic first aid certificate
• Gate motor and intercom repair skills

• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
• Meals on duty at hotel sites
• On-site accommodation at some estates
• Uniform and safety boots supplied
