Building Maintenance Handyman (Residential Estate) – Permanent

The shopping centre in Hammarsdale needs a reliable all-rounder to keep the buildings safe and looking good. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a shopping centre on the Hammarsdale side of KwaZulu-Natal. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Get quotes from outside contractors and let them in for bigger jobs
• Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails
• Keep the maintenance store tidy and track stock used
• Work through the maintenance log each morning and prioritise urgent requests
• Check fire extinguishers, emergency lights and escape routes on a monthly checklist

• Your own tools are a plus, but safe tool handling is a must
• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
• Basic painting, tiling, plumbing and carpentry skills
• Available for the occasional weekend emergency

• Basic first aid certificate
• Experience with a work order system on a phone app
• Pool and borehole pump experience

• Uniform and safety boots supplied
• On-site accommodation at some estates
• Meals on duty at hotel sites
