Job Description

Write clean code, review pull requests and fix what breaks at an insurance company software team in Mossel Bay. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Mossel Bay-based, with most of your time spent at an insurance company software team. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs

What you need

Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Experience writing automated tests
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days

Extra points for

Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
