CAD Technician (AutoCAD & Revit)

The electrical contractor design office in Fourways needs a draughtsperson who gets the dimensions right the first time. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Fourways-based, with most of your time spent at an electrical contractor design office. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Produce bills of materials from 3D models
• Check shop drawings from subcontractors against design drawings
• Model steel structures in Tekla and produce shop drawings and cutting lists
• Keep the drawing register current and issue drawings on time
• Draw general arrangements, details and fabrication drawings in AutoCAD or Inventor
• Prepare electrical single line diagrams and cable routing drawings
• Take site measurements to check existing conditions

• Neat and accurate, with a habit of checking your own work
• Able to read engineers' mark-ups and ask the right questions
• Good time planning when several projects need drawings at once
• National Diploma or N6 in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, or a draughting qualification
• Advanced skills in AutoCAD plus one 3D package

• Registration with ECSA as a Candidate Engineering Technician
• Revit or Civil 3D experience
• Workshop or site background

• Paid training on new software
• Hybrid work once you are settled in

• List the software versions you use daily. Firms want to know you can start without training.
• Remove client names and logos from sample drawings. Recruiters notice if you share confidential work.
