CAD Technician (AutoCAD & Revit)

The steel fabrication company in Tembisa needs a draughtsperson who gets the dimensions right the first time. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Tembisa-based, with most of your time spent at a steel fabrication company. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Model steel structures in Tekla and produce shop drawings and cutting lists
• Draft civil layouts, longitudinal sections and cross sections for services
• Take site measurements to check existing conditions
• Produce bills of materials from 3D models
• Keep the drawing register current and issue drawings on time

• Neat and accurate, with a habit of checking your own work
• Advanced skills in AutoCAD plus one 3D package
• Understanding of engineering drawing standards and tolerances
• At least 2 years working as a draughtsperson in your discipline
• Good time planning when several projects need drawings at once
• Able to read engineers' mark-ups and ask the right questions

• Experience with plant piping design software
• Workshop or site background

• Paid training on new software
• Latest CAD software licences
• Hybrid work once you are settled in

• List the software versions you use daily. Firms want to know you can start without training.
• A good drawing portfolio beats a long CV. Show a range: general arrangement, details and a 3D model view.
