Job Description

Clean water, safe roads and sound structures start with a good engineer at the bulk water utility in Germiston. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Location: Germiston, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

The work, day to day

Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals

You'll need

Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering

Nice if you have

Contract management training for NEC or GCC
Master's degree in structural or water engineering
Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
