Candidate Attorney (Family Law)

Get real court exposure and supervision at a personal injury law firm in Rustenburg while you prepare for board exams. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a personal injury law firm on the Rustenburg side of North West. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Appear in the magistrate's court on postponements and unopposed matters
• Prepare trial bundles and discovery affidavits
• Attend court with counsel and take notes during trials
• Record your time on the practice management system every day
• Research case law and legislation on SAFLII and Juta or LexisNexis
• Study for the LPC competency-based examinations alongside the work

• Clear criminal record, as required for admission
• Ready to sign a practical vocational training contract registered with the LPC
• Code B driver's licence and a reliable car for court runs
• Good legal research and clear written English
• Willing to work late before trials and filing deadlines
• LLB degree from a South African university

• Study leave for board exams
• Mentorship from an experienced principal
• Paid PLT course fees at some firms

• Put your LLB, university and graduation year at the top, and your average mark if it's above 65%.
• Apply early in the year, as most firms fill articles from January to March.
