Candidate Attorney (Labour Law)

You'll do your articles at a personal injury law firm in Boksburg and learn the practice from the ground up. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Location: Boksburg, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Research case law and legislation on SAFLII and Juta or LexisNexis
• Draft letters of demand, summonses and particulars of claim
• Prepare affidavits and notices of motion for your principal to review
• Record your time on the practice management system every day
• Attend court with counsel and take notes during trials

• Ready to sign a practical vocational training contract registered with the LPC
• Willing to work late before trials and filing deadlines
• Good legal research and clear written English
• LLB degree from a South African university
• Code B driver's licence and a reliable car for court runs

• Completed PLT (Practical Legal Training) at a law school
• Moot court or legal clinic experience

• Mentorship from an experienced principal
• Study leave for board exams
• Paid PLT course fees at some firms
• Travel allowance for court runs

• Put your LLB, university and graduation year at the top, and your average mark if it's above 65%.
• Apply early in the year, as most firms fill articles from January to March.
