Job Description

Court runs, drafting and client consultations: a personal injury law firm in Atlantis will put you to work from week one. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Location: Atlantis, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

The work, day to day

Take instructions from clients and write clear attendance notes
Research case law and legislation on SAFLII and Juta or LexisNexis
Study for the LPC competency-based examinations alongside the work
Prepare affidavits and notices of motion for your principal to review
Keep matter files updated and diarise court dates and deadlines
Appear in the magistrate's court on postponements and unopposed matters
Record your time on the practice management system every day

What you need

Clear criminal record, as required for admission
Code B driver's licence and a reliable car for court runs
Proficient in Word, Outlook and legal research databases
Willing to work late before trials and filing deadlines
