Court runs, drafting and client consultations: a small general practice law firm in Rosslyn will put you to work from week one. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a small general practice law firm in Rosslyn. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Attend court with counsel and take notes during trials
• Take instructions from clients and write clear attendance notes
• Record your time on the practice management system every day
• Appear in the magistrate's court on postponements and unopposed matters
• Prepare trial bundles and discovery affidavits
• Study for the LPC competency-based examinations alongside the work
• Prepare affidavits and notices of motion for your principal to review

• Clear criminal record, as required for admission
• Good legal research and clear written English
• Ready to sign a practical vocational training contract registered with the LPC
• Proficient in Word, Outlook and legal research databases

• Travel allowance for court runs
• Paid PLT course fees at some firms
• Mentorship from an experienced principal

• Attach a short legal writing sample; firms judge candidates heavily on drafting.
• Apply early in the year, as most firms fill articles from January to March.
