Candidate Attorney (Road Accident Fund Claims) – Permanent

You'll do your articles at a commercial law firm in Vereeniging and learn the practice from the ground up. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a commercial law firm on the Vereeniging side of Gauteng. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Research case law and legislation on SAFLII and Juta or LexisNexis
• Keep matter files updated and diarise court dates and deadlines
• Record your time on the practice management system every day
• Prepare affidavits and notices of motion for your principal to review
• Study for the LPC competency-based examinations alongside the work
• Issue and serve documents at the magistrate's court and High Court

• Willing to work late before trials and filing deadlines
• LLB degree from a South African university
• Clear criminal record, as required for admission
• Proficient in Word, Outlook and legal research databases
• Ready to sign a practical vocational training contract registered with the LPC

• Moot court or legal clinic experience
• Second official language used by the firm's clients
• Completed PLT (Practical Legal Training) at a law school

• Mentorship from an experienced principal
• Study leave for board exams
• Travel allowance for court runs
• Paid PLT course fees at some firms

• Apply early in the year, as most firms fill articles from January to March.
• Put your LLB, university and graduation year at the top, and your average mark if it's above 65%.
