Job Description

Get real court exposure and supervision at a personal injury law firm in Richards Bay while you prepare for board exams. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at a personal injury law firm. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Study for the LPC competency-based examinations alongside the work
Prepare affidavits and notices of motion for your principal to review
Prepare trial bundles and discovery affidavits
Research case law and legislation on SAFLII and Juta or LexisNexis
Take instructions from clients and write clear attendance notes
Keep matter files updated and diarise court dates and deadlines
Issue and serve documents at the magistrate's court and High Court

What you need

Proficient in Word, Outlook and legal research databases
Good legal research and clear written English
Clear criminal record, as required for admission
LLB degree from a South African university

Extra points for

Vacation work at a law firm
Moot court or legal clinic experience
Second official language used by the firm's clients
