Job Description

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the municipal infrastructure department in Richards Bay. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a municipal infrastructure department on the Richards Bay side of KwaZulu-Natal.

What your day looks like

Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Write design reports and handover documents
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments

You'll need

Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate

Helpful, not essential

Master's degree in structural or water engineering
Registration with SAICE and active CPD
