Maintenance Engineer (Food Manufacturing)

Design it, build it, fix it: mechanical engineering work at the paper and packaging mill in Durban Central. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a paper and packaging mill in Durban Central. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347
• Run vibration, thermography and oil analysis programmes on critical equipment
• Hold the GMR 2.1 appointment and keep machinery safety legal on site
• Sign off modifications and keep drawings and records current
• Prepare the maintenance budget and report monthly on spend
• Analyse breakdowns with root cause methods and fix the cause, not the symptom
• Plan and track preventive maintenance in the CMMS with the artisans and planners

• Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level
• Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations
• Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
• Able to manage contractors and budgets
• Three or more years working as a qualified engineer, in industry or consulting

• Government Certificate of Competency (Mechanical, Factories)
• Finite element analysis skills
• Experience with SAP PM for maintenance

• ECSA registration fees and CPD paid
• Company laptop and CAD licences
