Job Description

This structural design practice in Sandton needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Sandton (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What you'll actually do

Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Write design reports and handover documents
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments

What you need

Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision

Nice if you have

Registration with SAICE and active CPD
Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
