Candidate Electrical Engineer (ECSA)

The solar and battery project developer in Brakpan needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The work is in Brakpan, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
• Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion

• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating

• PLC programming certification
• Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
• Protection or HV operating authorisation

• Vehicle allowance for site work
• Paid professional registration and training
• Clear path to associate or senior engineer
• Flexible hours on design days
