Job Description

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this solar and battery project developer in Gqeberha needs a sharp electrical engineer. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a solar and battery project developer in Gqeberha. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What your day looks like

Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records

What you need

ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package

Helpful, not essential

Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
Protection or HV operating authorisation
PLC programming certification
