Job Description

You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the solar and battery project developer in Gqeberha. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Gqeberha-based, with most of your time spent at a solar and battery project developer.

The work, day to day

Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software

Must-haves

Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts

Extra points for

Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
Protection or HV operating authorisation
