Job Description

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this electrical consulting engineering firm in Harrismith needs a sharp electrical engineer. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is an electrical consulting engineering firm on the Harrismith side of Free State.

The work, day to day

Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software

Must-haves

Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
