Candidate Electrical Engineer (ECSA)

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The manufacturing plant in Sandton needs you to make it so. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll report in Sandton. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
• Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
• Size cables, transformers and protection using design software

• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites

• Protection or HV operating authorisation
• Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
• PLC programming certification

• Vehicle allowance for site work
• Flexible hours on design days
• Clear path to associate or senior engineer
• Paid professional registration and training

• List projects with their voltage level, size in kVA or MW, and whether you designed, supervised or commissioned.
• Name the software you use for power system studies and lighting design. Consultants screen for exact tools.
