Job Description

Design it, build it, fix it: mechanical engineering work at the materials handling equipment manufacturer in Fourways. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Fourways-based, with most of your time spent at a materials handling equipment manufacturer.

The work, day to day

Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347
Mentor candidate engineers and artisans on technical problems
Hold the GMR 2.1 appointment and keep machinery safety legal on site
Analyse breakdowns with root cause methods and fix the cause, not the symptom
Sign off modifications and keep drawings and records current
Write scopes of work and compare contractor quotes

You'll need

Code 08 licence for site visits
Able to manage contractors and budgets
Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations

Nice if you have

Finite element analysis skills
Reliability or asset management certification
