Job Description

This materials handling equipment manufacturer in Kuruman needs a mechanical engineer who is as comfortable on the plant floor as in the design office. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a materials handling equipment manufacturer on the Kuruman side of Northern Cape.

The work, day to day

Design conveyors, chutes and structures in SolidWorks or Inventor
Manage shutdowns: planning, spares, contractors and safe restart
Write scopes of work and compare contractor quotes
Plan and track preventive maintenance in the CMMS with the artisans and planners
Sign off modifications and keep drawings and records current
Run vibration, thermography and oil analysis programmes on critical equipment
Prepare the maintenance budget and report monthly on spend

What you need

Able to manage contractors and budgets
Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations
Code 08 licence for site visits
BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles
Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level
