Candidate Mechanical Engineer (ECSA)

This paper and packaging mill in Worcester needs a mechanical engineer who is as comfortable on the plant floor as in the design office. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Worcester. Relocation is not covered for this one. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Prepare the maintenance budget and report monthly on spend
• Mentor candidate engineers and artisans on technical problems
• Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347
• Manage shutdowns: planning, spares, contractors and safe restart
• Write scopes of work and compare contractor quotes

• Able to manage contractors and budgets
• Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles
• Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
• Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level
