Candidate Quantity Surveyor – Permanent

You'll measure, price and manage the money on building projects for the quantity surveying practice in Bellville. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a quantity surveying practice in Bellville. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities

• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying

• Honours degree in Quantity Surveying
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel
• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard

• Study support for an honours degree
