Job Description

Make sure every rand on site is counted, claimed and certified for the quantity surveying practice in Cape Town CBD. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Location: Cape Town CBD, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

What you'll actually do

Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
Prepare the final account at the end of the project
Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions

Must-haves

Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
Code 08 licence for site visits

Helpful, not essential

SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
