Job Description

You'll plant, prune and fell trees for a sawmill in the hills near Randburg. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Randburg, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day.

What your day looks like

Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing
Apply herbicide around young trees as instructed
Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times

You'll need

Willing to work in remote areas
Physically strong and fit for steep slopes
Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Valid ID

Helpful, not essential

Fire fighting training
Previous plantation or sawmill experience
