Chiller Technician (Hospitals & Data Centres) – Permanent

You'll install, service and repair refrigeration and aircon systems across Sandton. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Sandton (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
• Clean coils, replace filters and check drain lines on scheduled services
• Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost
• Check chiller log sheets and water treatment on building service visits
• Commission new systems and show the client how to use the controls

• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• Comfortable on roofs and ladders in summer heat
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate
• Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
• SAQCC Gas registration as an authorised person for refrigerants
• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate

• Transport refrigeration units on trucks and trailers
• Building management system alarm handling
• Experience with VRF systems or chillers

• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you
• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Manufacturer training on new equipment ranges

• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
• Say which refrigerants and system types you have worked on. A recruiter for supermarket work wants to see CO2 or large rack systems.
