Chiller Technician (Hospitals & Data Centres)

Keep cold rooms cold and offices cool for the air-conditioning maintenance company in Vanderbijlpark. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at an air-conditioning maintenance company in Vanderbijlpark. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them
• Check chiller log sheets and water treatment on building service visits
• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
• Commission new systems and show the client how to use the controls
• Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost

• At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems
• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
• Comfortable on roofs and ladders in summer heat
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate
• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate

• Experience with VRF systems or chillers
• CO2 transcritical refrigeration experience in retail stores

• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you

• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
• Say which refrigerants and system types you have worked on. A recruiter for supermarket work wants to see CO2 or large rack systems.
