Job Description

Got your trade test and a steady hand on a DB board? This residential electrical contractor in Johannesburg CBD needs you on the tools. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Johannesburg CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a residential electrical contractor.

What you'll actually do

Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester
Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows

Must-haves

Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test

Extra points for

Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters
N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
