Civil Design Technician (Stormwater)

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the road agency project office in Brits. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is in Brits (North West). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
• Write design reports and handover documents
• Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
• Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
• Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
• Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
• Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations

• Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
• BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
• Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
• Good grasp of South African design codes for your field

• Master's degree in structural or water engineering
• Registration with SAICE and active CPD

• Professional development and mentorship toward Pr Eng
• Site allowance when you work as resident engineer
• Group life and disability cover

• Say whether you have done resident engineer work. It is a separate skill and often in short supply.
• Mention the design software you use and the codes you design to, so the reviewer does not have to guess.
