Civil Design Technician (Stormwater)

Clean water, safe roads and sound structures start with a good engineer at the civil engineering consultancy in Isando. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a civil engineering consultancy in Isando. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Write design reports and handover documents
• Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
• Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
• Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
• Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
• Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
• Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software

• Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
• BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
• At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
• Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors

• Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
• Contract management training for NEC or GCC
• Registration with SAICE and active CPD
