Job Description

This municipal infrastructure department in Roodepoort needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Home base is a municipal infrastructure department on the Roodepoort side of Gauteng.

What your day looks like

Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
Write design reports and handover documents
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries

Must-haves

Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering

Extra points for

Contract management training for NEC or GCC
Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
