Civil Engineer (Water and Sanitation) – Experienced

Roads, water, buildings: the civil engineering consultancy in Soweto needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a civil engineering consultancy in Soweto. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
• Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
• Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
• Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
• Write design reports and handover documents
• Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
• Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue

• At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
• BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
• Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
• Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
• Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate

• Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
• Master's degree in structural or water engineering
• Contract management training for NEC or GCC
