Civil Labourer (Road Works) – Fixed-Term

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a shopping centre renovation in Kariega can keep building. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Kariega-based, with most of your time spent at a shopping centre renovation. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
• Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Mix concrete and mortar by hand or with a small mixer

• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area

• Previous site work you can show with a reference
• Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)

• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
