Job Description

Machines set the pace at this industrial bakery in Coega; you keep up and catch the faults. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The site is in Coega; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

  • Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
  • Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
  • Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
  • Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
  • Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines

Must-haves

  • Available for rotating day and night shifts
  • Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
  • Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
  • Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check

Helpful, not essential

  • Some basic first-aid training
  • A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate

What you get

  • Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
  • Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
  • Staff shop with discounted factory products

How to apply for this job

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: your latest school results or matric certificate, CV listing any factory or packing work, even short-term plus food handler or HACCP certificate if you have one.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 10 working days.

Tips to get shortlisted

  • Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
  • Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
