Clinic Cleaner (Day Shift)

Careful, trained cleaners are wanted at a community health clinic in Benoni. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a community health clinic in Benoni. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward
• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins
• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers
• Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back

• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Matric or Grade 11
• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste

• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience
• Experience as a porter or general assistant in healthcare

• On-the-job infection control training
• Meal on shift at the staff canteen
• Medical aid option through the employer
