Job Description

When the network goes down at this financial services company in Roodepoort, you're the one who brings it back. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: Roodepoort, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

The work, day to day

Run and test backups, and do regular restore drills
Troubleshoot load-shedding related outages and UPS failures
Configure switches, VLANs, VPNs and firewall rules
Review security logs and investigate suspicious sign-ins
Document network diagrams and change records
Build and maintain virtual machines on Hyper-V, VMware or Azure
Plan hardware refreshes and licence renewals with a budget

Must-haves

Willing to do standby and after-hours maintenance
Degree or diploma in IT, plus relevant certifications
Scripting in PowerShell, Bash or Python
Solid TCP/IP, routing, switching and firewall knowledge
