CNC Machinist (Lathe & Milling)

Bearings, gearboxes, pumps and lathes: this beverage bottling plant in Burgersfort needs your hands on them. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is in Burgersfort (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Follow the lockout procedure before any work on machinery
• Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
• Build and repair press tools, jigs and moulds
• Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely
• Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change

• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set

• Paid overtime on shutdowns
• Shift and standby allowances
• Tool allowance

• Expect a practical test. Measure twice and work cleanly, because the assessor watches your habits as much as the result.
• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
