Job Description

The cement plant in Cape Town CBD needs an artisan who can fix a breakdown fast and machine a part when needed. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a cement plant on the Cape Town CBD side of Western Cape.

What your day looks like

  • Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine
  • Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
  • Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors
  • Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
  • Build and repair press tools, jigs and moulds

What you need

  • At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
  • Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
  • Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
  • Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
  • Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set

Helpful, not essential

  • CNC programming experience
  • Forklift licence for moving heavy parts
